Words From Pastor McIntire

Dear Friends,

"How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity." (Psalm 133:1 NIV)

According to the writer, unity among Christians is not only good, but it is pleasant as well. David lived in an age in which he had the opportunity to learn firsthand how unpleasant strife could be. But any people, in any age, understand this. The heartaches, misunderstandings, dissensions, grief and sorrows that have come as a direct or indirect result of strife among professed Christians are well known.

How much better than all of this is the unity for which Christ prayed in John 17:20-23. Psalms 133:2 says that unity is also like the precious ointment used in the Jewish ceremonies and like the refreshing dews for which Mt. Hermon is known. What a beautiful picture the Bible draws of unity among believers.

God has always wanted His followers to be together in unity. He gives us many examples of this in His Word. The Church at Jerusalem is one. All the members had things in common and none were heard to say what they possessed was their own. Personal things were secondary to the spreading of the "good news" of the gospel. It is no wonder that the church grew so quickly and became such a power of influence. This always occurs when individual differences are put aside.

May God help us as individuals and church members to put aside every earthly problem that has kept us and is now keeping us from working together so we can truly unite and feast together on God's spiritual food. The results would simply astonish us.
